We will run our typical 9 - noon or 1 - 4pm sessions.  Cost of class is $40.

We will be creating these amazing giant 3-D dragon masks!  Start clearing the wall space now - these pieces are 18" x 24" and always turn out stunning!  We will also be creating a dragon themed watercolor painting.

Carnivale Cut-Outs!

What better way to learn about art than to work collaboratively on a single piece of art?

Students learned a lot about what it means to communicate with others, compromise and collaborate in their artwork.  We encouraged students to find others with similar ideas before finalizing their group members.  Students sketched ideas out independently, then discussed and voted on one final concept.  Once the design was drawn in chalk on the large sheets of cardboard, students got busy painting!

Here's a few photos from our end of the week celebration!

Chihuly Inspired Sculptures

Talk about a fun project!

After looking in amazement at some of Chihuly's work, students got busy making their own version!

  • Students colored two sheets of shrink paper using permanent markers - some solid areas, some patterned
  • Cut the paper into interesting shapes (some large, some small)
  • After baking in the oven for a couple minutes the pieces turned into these wacky shapes perfect for building!
  • Using hot glue and some assistance, students assembled their sculptures
Here's some close-ups of the finished project:

Carnivale Masks Part Two...

Here's a few more pictures of finished masks from the Carnivale session of Artapalooza - and our group pictures displaying our handy work!

Enjoy!
